WHAT WE DO

As a community, we possess an incredible capacity for creativity and collaboration. By working together, we can shape our communities into the vibrant and fulfilling places we aspire them to be.

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS

At Kuumba Community Foundation, we offer community-centered programs and projects that support agency, healing, and action that lead to transformational change.  We strive to strengthen women's agency and enhance their ability to positively impact their communities while promoting the conservation of natural resources and the environment.  We recognize that communities are at the heart of philanthropy, and we seek to support their growth through research and supportive initiatives.

Financial Inclusion

Our program for financial inclusion is designed to support women with the knowledge and skills they need to utilize natural resources sustainably and leverage their existing skills to achieve economic independence.

Agency Circles

Agency Circles provide women with a safe and supportive space for collective learning, honest conversations, and self-driven advocacy.  These circles promote agency, healing, and skill-building, enabling women to become catalysts for social change within their community.

Forest Restoration

Our forest restoration program aims at restoring degraded forests and promoting sustainable forest management practices. We work with local communities to promote reforestation, agroforestry, and conservation of biodiversity.

Community Philanthropy

Our community philanthropy program thrives through the collective efforts of women. They have championed initiatives ranging from scholarships for disadvantaged children to revitalizing local playgrounds and constructing school facilities, nurturing their community and the land they steward.

Sustainable Agriculture

We are committed to supporting the cultivation of drought-resistant cash crops like Kalahari Melon, Amaranth, and Sesame by women in arid areas. To ensure improved food security, we also encourage the intercropping of these crops with traditional grains and legumes. Additionally, we are dedicated to promoting regenerative farming practices in communities to foster sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.
